A Wedding Festival not to be missed! MJ + Tegan has an Festival themed wedding with holographic details, a car full of flowers, neon, food vans and a whole lotta love! We caught up with them to see what their favourite parts of the day were, how the planning went and why they chose Peggy and Finn for their Groomsmen Accessories!
How did you guys meet?
We had a mutual friend in common. It ended up that she thought we would get along and a movie day was organised, the most embarrassing movie to all see together, Wog Boy 2. Everyone was in on making sure MJ & I sat next to each other so there was an awkward seating rearrangement just before the movie started. We were 15 & 16. After the movie there was the old adding each other on facebook and from then we talked for hours & hours & hours. With all parents very angry over the phone bills we have racked up!
What was the style of your wedding?
A Wedding Festival (Wed-fest!) We wanted a chilled relaxed atmosphere. We knew from the start that we were desperate to have tipis, food trucks & festoon lighting. We had no seating plan and barely any formalities our aim of the night was to eat, dance and drink as much as we can. The styling was paired back to highlight the beautiful reserve & tipis. We didn’t have many stylising aspects around but what we did have had big impacts like a crazy amount of coloured flowers as our wedding backdrop, our very own beetle with flowers & a neon sign in the trunk and reflective acrylic signs.
What inspired you to purchase Peggy and Finn products for your wedding day?
MJ wore a peggy & finn wooden bowtie for our engagement party. We had never seen anything else like them before & MJ loved them straight away. From then on they have been our go to for ties & bow ties!
We chose a similar bow tie for our wedding with suspenders to match, our groomsmen then each wore a different Peggy & Finn tie. My bridesmaids each had picked their own dresses so it only made sense for each groomsmen to have a different tie to match their personalities a bit more. Just love how beautiful they look & locally made
Any special comments on the Groom & Groomsmen attire?
We wanted everyone to feel comfortable and relaxed, mj likes a bit more out there (might have noticed his pink floral shoes) I don’t really know anyone else who thoroughly enjoys wearing the brightest most out there clothes they can find so we found a balance between out there and comfortable with the groomsmen, even though they would of been happy to wear anything we asked them too. Mj’s pants were a deep dark purple, so his groomsmen wore a light almost can’t tell they are purple, light purple pants and then white shirts for everyone made it all come together a bit more.
What was your favorite moment on your wedding day?
When I first saw Tegz in the redwood forest (MJ)
Dancing under the stars with all our friends & family while the sexy sax was playing (Tegan)
Words of wisdom, What advice would you give to other couples who are planning their wedding day?
Enjoy the planning process! We had felt really carefree and easy breezy leading up to the wedding with our wedding planner Laura from Wanderlust creative taking all the stress out of the process. Take the time to enjoy the day, soak up all the emotions & feels!!
Stick to your guns & make your wedding what you want it, don’t let anyone talk you out of what you want your day to be.
